Why walls and floors stay wet for weeks
- Concrete, screed, gypsum and cabinet backs soak up water from a burst pipe or AC leak and release it slowly. Surfaces feel dry in two days while the inside stays saturated.
- In Dubai the water has nowhere to go: indoor air is already humid, evaporation is slow and mould starts within 48 hours.
The drying order
- Stop the water; isolate power to wet circuits.
- Remove standing water; pull up wet carpet, underlay and skirting.
- Cut out gypsum below the water line; it will not dry.
- Run high-capacity dehumidifiers with air movers, doors closed, AC on, until a moisture meter reads dry (restoration firms follow the IICRC S500 standard).
- Only then repaint and refit.

Rental vs installed
- Drying phase: rent. Restoration and rental firms bring high-capacity units sized to the damage. We do not rent and will refer you to rental firms.
- Afterwards: install. If the home runs humid, or the same floor goes damp every summer, a ducted dehumidifier with a plumbed drain holds 45–55% and prevents the next bloom.
