What mould removal costs in Dubai
- One cleaning-company blog quotes AED 800–1,500 for surface cleaning and more than AED 15,000 for full remediation (search snippet, unverified).
- Price drivers: area affected, gypsum to cut out, ducts involved, air testing afterwards.
When DIY cleaning fails
- Bleach or vinegar works on tiles and sealed paint, not on gypsum board or bare concrete, where the growth sits inside the material. A technician quoted by Khaleej Times said mouldy gypsum "needs to be cut out and replaced".
- A new cabinet fitted against a damp wall grows the same mould.
Why it comes back
- Mould needs moisture, not dirt. Above about 60% relative humidity at the surface, airborne spores start growing again within weeks.
- Dubai homes spend June to September above that line, and a closed flat with the AC off gets there in days.
- A quote for cleaning alone is a quote for repeating it next summer.
The complete fix
- Remediation by a specialist firm (we do not remove mould).
- Find and repair any leak.
- Hold indoor humidity at 45–55% with a ducted dehumidifier for mould and condensation that drains itself and keeps working while you are away.
