What an indoor air quality test measures in Dubai
- Relative humidity and temperature, PM2.5 and PM10 (fine dust), CO2, total VOCs, formaldehyde and often mould spore counts.
- Overnight readings matter most, when the AC cycles off and humidity peaks.
Thresholds to compare against
- Humidity: 40–60% is the usual comfort and health band; we target 45–55%.
- PM2.5: the WHO 2021 guideline is 15 µg/m³ as a 24-hour mean. Dubai dust days push outdoor air far above it.
- CO2: commonly kept under 1,000 ppm; higher means too little fresh air.
- VOCs: no single limit. Readings fall with ventilation and rise with heat and humidity.
Why humidity drives most of it
- Mould spores, dust mites and bacteria multiply above 60% RH.
- Formaldehyde and other VOCs off-gas faster from furniture and finishes in warm, humid air.
What a ducted dehumidifier with filtration changes
- Holds RH at the target for the whole home, removing the growth conditions.
- Pulls room air through multi-stage filtration (fine particle and carbon) on every pass, lowering PM2.5 and odours.
- It does not lower CO2. That needs fresh air, dried before it enters. See the air filtration and indoor air quality solution.
