What duct cleaning does
- A technician vacuums and brushes the ducts, cleans grilles and diffusers, and often the evaporator coil and drain pan.
- It removes the dust and mould present today. We do not clean ducts.
What it does not do
- It does not change the humidity that grew the mould. If room air stays above 60% at night, the ducts recolonise within a season.
- It does not fix a sweating uninsulated duct, or an AC that is itself supplying humid air (one Dubai inspection found 88.5% RH at the supply vent).
When to clean
- Black spotting on vents, a musty smell at start-up, after renovation or a long period with the AC off.
- An inspection report quoted in The National recommended cleaning "at least once a year, better still, once every six months" for a mouldy flat.
What it costs
What stops it coming back
- Hold indoor humidity at 45–55% so the duct interior never stays damp. A ducted dehumidifier for mould and condensation does this from the same ceiling void, with filtration that keeps ducts cleaner between services.
